Raheen House to have Melbourne Cup prep run

William Haggas plans to give an outing in Australia to Raheen House before a shot at the Lexus Melbourne Cup at Flemington in November.

The Newmarket trainer has earmarked the Caulfield Cup on October 19 as his preferred target for Sea Even the Stars‘ gelded son, together with the Geelong Cup.
The five year-old, one of two horses to get beaten dual Arc winner Enable, finished down the field on his most recent start in last month’s Ebor in York – however he’d been placed in the Listed and Group race business to the Knavesmire.
Haggas said:“Raheen House is currently in quarantine right now, and he is due to visit Australia soon.
„I believe he’s going to run at the Caulfield Cup when he puts in. If he does not get in he would go to the Geelong Cup.
„I think he needs to possess a race first before the Melbourne Cup. He’ll run down there, and I don’t think the two-mile excursion in the Melbourne Cup will be any issue.“
Reflecting on Raheen House’s no show from the Ebor, the Vintage winning handler believes he was conspired against by things.
Haggas included:“He got a lot back, also (jockey) James (Doyle) said he did not quite have that ancient pace.
„James stated they went difficult, though, and that he just got in the wrong place – but that is the way it is.
„The ground might have been been a bit quick for him.“
