Japanese GP Practice One: Valtteri Bottas ahead of Lewis Hamilton

Valtteri Bottas edged Lewis Hamilton in an impressive beginning for Mercedes out of what is set to prove that a condescend Japanese GP weekend at the start.
Together with the expected impact of Typhoon Hagibis qualifying proceeded at Suzuka and significance the running of all Saturday was cancelled – in 2am UK time, four weeks – teams have two practice sessions to prepare their new cars.
In warm bright and calm conditions on Friday afternoon, Mercedes made by far the quickest beginning with Bottas and Hamilton one of the chasing bunch.
Bottas, despite a previous near-miss with Ferraris Charles Leclerc, set the pace with a 1:28.731, 0.076s clear of tournament leader and four-time Suzuka victor Hamilton.
Sebastian Vettel a winner at F1s only circuit, has been third in the Ferrari ahead of team-mate Leclerc and Max Verstappens Red Bull.
Since they bid to rally to Ferraris recent surge mercedes trialled a few late-season updates.
