Solheim Cup: Dame Laura Davies plays down inexperience on USA team

Dame Laura Davies is confident when they take on one of the very inexperienced USA teams Europe will avoid complacency.
Preparation has hit the bid to lead her team to a third straight victory of juli Inkster, together with Stacy Lewis being made to pull out due to a back injury with Ally McDonald stepping to the fold to become the sixth rookie from the line-up.
Angel Yin has been unable to practice entirely because her set of clubs were arriving at Gleneagles, however Davies insists that the group will be focused on their games instead of being distracted by events from the opposition club area.
„It has certainly been an eventful beginning to Solheim Cup week,“ Davies told Sky Sports. „Generally on a Monday and Tuesday it’s all about getting a sense of the area, wanting to relax as far as you can, and getting some good practice.
„However, with missing clubs for Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Angel Yin, along with the USA being forced to make a late change to their team, there’s been much more happening. Because she is such a huge part of the team is a true shame for the Americans.
„However, Ally McDonald has played this year and, if anything else, she might actually be playing a bit greater than Stacy. She will be ready for the battle and won’t shy away from it, although ally might be another newcomer. It will rob Juli Inkster of an experienced participant, but Stacy is remaining with the team in order that they can utilise her expertise in the team room.
„Team USA now have six rookies in their line-up, and three have played with a Solheim Cup out the united states, but we certainly will not be getting complacent while we look at the inexperience in their team. Juli has a very good team with players which are firmly established over the LPGA Tour, and it is a tough qualifying process in which you need to play good, consistent golf within the very best part of 2 decades.“
Europe stay 13/8 outsiders using Sky Bet ahead of the edition of this championship, however Davies, who’s enjoying her adventure of believes the 2 teams are equally matched and has predicted a contest.
„The bookies currently have us since the outsiders together using the Americans odds to triumph, but with everything I’ve observed from our staff on and off the course, it is even money in my book,“ added Davies, who remains the greatest points scorer in the contest’s history with 25 points from her 12 looks – another record.
„Obviously we are hoping for a big win, however I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be very close when it comes to the crunch on Sunday afternoon. We need to feed the home service and the atmosphere and carry that.
„There will definitely be a wonderful feeling around the first teewhere our gamers will feel the burden of expectation while the US team could feel somewhat intimidated. But I’d rather be in your home team all the way. Four of Europe’s five Solheim Cup wins have been at home, and a lot of that achievement is down to our“13th participant“ beyond the ropes.
„Experienced or not, every single participant will truly feel the nerves on that first tee. It had been something that I endured from, and I’ll admit that if I was enjoying foursomes, I had been perfectly happy for my partner to hit on the very first tee shot!“
